This paper tackles the issue of how migrants border crossings are perceived in the context of the EU: to what extent they are linked to needs of security and particularly the challenges that arise from migration border crossings. It pays particular attention to different actors, some related to security and some related to migration, and their analysis of challenges and threats. A qualitative research with 40 interviews in 11 different countries will show how each group of actors/individuals share their own perceptions based on the work and functions they provide. Their perceptions deeply contrast with that of the migrants that also see border crossing as a danger for themselves.
