The 2021 elections in Morocco have been understood as the end of a political cycle, which culminated in the consolidation of the sphere of influence of the Palace on decision-makers and eroded the potential for opposition in institutional spaces. In the context of an increasing repression against the country's dissenting voices, the electoral results raise questions as to which actors, spaces and dynamics can act as a counterforce to the Moroccan regime in the future. By analyzing the process of political and social reconfiguration prompted by the protests that spread across the country in 2011, this contribution aims at identifying the main trends in the evolution of the political space for opposition in Morocco, the actors seizing it and the dynamics between them. The processes of reconfiguration and the still inconclusive nature of many of the recent events that have taken place over the last decade open new opportunities to study the resistance to the Moroccan regime. Ultimately, the goal of this contribution is to sketch a research agenda that identifies the possible lines and subjects of studies on opposition in Morocco in the future.
