This paper proposes a comprehensive analysis of the digitalisation of employers’ organisations,
drawing on the author’s established research on institutions in the digital ecosystem, digital marketing,
and e-governance. It situates employers’ organisations within broader debates on whether traditional
intermediary institutions can survive and remain relevant under the pressures of the digital revolution.
Building from empirical work on digital presence indexes, institutional competitiveness, and citizencentric digital services, the chapter frames employers’ organisations as key actors navigating profound
technological, organisational, and cultural change. This chapter's main contribution is its integration of
insights from prior research on social partners, business associations, local institutions, and egovernance. This provides a coherent, longitudinal perspective on how different institutional fields
respond to the digital revolution. Employers' organisations are used as a strategic case study to
demonstrate how legacy organisations can leverage digital tools to enhance their competitiveness,
transparency and value to members, or risk becoming marginalised in a platform-dominated
environment. The chapter concludes with scenario-based reflections and practical recommendations
for organisational leaders and policymakers, outlining the conditions under which employers'
organisations can evolve rather than disappear in the digital age
