Seminario del Instituto de Políticas y Bienes Públicos (IPP-CSIC). Jueves 28 de febrero, 12.00 hs.

En esta ocasión, se presentará la ponencia “What are we teaching them? business schools develop “sophisticated liars”, a cargo del professor Eli Spiegelman (Univ. Bourgogne Franche-Comte, Burgundy School of Business)

Abstract: We present an experiment testing the change in the moral weight of a lie among lower- and upper-division students in a business school. Participants are given the opportunity to earn money through dishonest reporting of a random event. They then share the proceeds with another person. Relative to a control condition with equal endowments, first-year participants transfer significantly more when the money was earned through dishonesty. This effect disappears by third year. Third-year students also lie slightly less. Basic distributional preferences are unchanged over time. We present a simple model that organizes these results.

El seminario tendrá lugar en la sala Herbert Simon (3D18), Instituto de Políticas y Bienes Públicos (IPP-CSIC) (C/ Albasanz 26-28. Madrid)
