Research Assistants and Research Associates in the Department of Politics & International Relations (3 Positions Available)
• Fixed Term Contract for one year from 01 September 2015 – extensions may be possible subject to funding
• Research Assistant - Grade 6 - £26,264 to £30,434 annual gross salary
• Research Associate- Grade 7 - £32,277 to £37,394 annual gross salary (appointment to this scale are likely to be toward the bottom of the grade due to funding restrictions)
We are seeking to appoint researchers to join the team of the European Research Council-funded RESPONSIVEGOV project, led by Prof Laura Morales. We welcome applications from excellent candidates in the fields of political science or political sociology to undertake independent and collaborative research, and to provide research support to the project Principal Investigator. You will join a project team that will include a total of four Research Assistants/Associates, around 10 part-time coding research assistants and a Project Administrator. Candidates should hold a PhD, awarded within the last 5 years, or be working towards completion of one, and have strong skills in research methods and quantitative analysis (using STATA or R, and with training or experience in agent-based modelling, time series analysis, multilevel modelling, event data/history analysis and/or fsQCA). The successful candidate will have a strong research record, commensurate with career stage, in one or more of the following areas: political behaviour, public opinion, collective action, policy-making and comparative politics. Language skills in French, German or Finnish are essential.
