• Seminario del Instituto de Políticas y Bienes Públicos (IPP-CSIC) "Off the Beaten Path: What Drives Scientists’ Entry into New Fields?", jueves 26 de octubre a las 12.00 hs.

This paper analyses what individual and institutional factors encourage scientists to publish in fields that are new to them. Using a ten-year panel of researchers in biomedical sciences and engineering from a large research university in Belgium, we find that higher scientific productivity and academic rank positively affect the probability of publishing in new fields and the degree of novelty of such change. Accounting for the endogeneity of funding, we also find that grants have a negative effect, driving research portfolios towards specialisation rather than diversification. Implications for university policy are discussed.

Próximo monográfico especial titulado “La dimensión olvidada: la conexión entre lo doméstico y lo internacional en el Norte de África” en la Revista UNISCI (presente en el índice SJR - Q3). 

Este número da la bienvenida a aquellas contribuciones que aborden el Norte de África a partir de la conexión (linkage) entre lo doméstico y lo internacional desde una perspectiva empírica, teórica o metodológica.  Convocatoria

• Barcelona´gov Curso Proyección Internacional de las Ciudades (7 al 10 de noviembre 2017)

Barcelona’gov ofrece cursos de alto nivel a profesionales que quieran conocer y actualizar estrategias y herramientas para mejorar la gestión pública local, el territorio y la vida de sus habitantes.

Este curso plantea la cuestión de cómo las ciudades y las áreas metropolitanas pueden llevar a cabo un papel fundamental en la formación de políticas públicas globales que traten los temas más críticos de la próxima década. Asimismo, pretende reflexionar y aportar instrumentos para la incidencia de las ciudades en las agendas globales. Más concretamente, el curso profundizará en el papel de las ciudades y sus redes y/o asociaciones de municipios en la construcción de la Agenda 2030 y la nueva Agenda Urbana que se concretó después de la Conferencia de Naciones Unidas sobre Desarrollo Sostenible y Vivienda, Habitat III

Call for Proposal Deadline Extended to 25 October 2017

Due to ongoing demand, the deadline for Call for Proposals has been extended to 25 October 2017 for the 25th IPSA World Congress of Political Science (21-25 July 2018, Brisbane, Australia).

We hope that this extension will give everyone a new chance to submit a paper or panel proposal. Hundreds of high-quality paper proposals and panels have already been submitted and we would like to thank everyone who has submitted an abstract. Don’t miss this last opportunity to present your paper and meet prominent political scientists across the world under the theme Borders and Margins.

Proposals for panels and papers on any subject within political science are welcome. The Congress Theme “Borders and Margins” will be featured in specially organized topical sessions and events. Anyone can submit a proposal for a panel or paper. Proposers do not need to be a member of IPSA. If you do not currently hold an IPSA account, you will be asked to create one before submitting your proposal for a panel or paper.
