ROME TO HOST THE 2027 IPSA WORLD CONGRESS

We are excited to announce that the 29th IPSA World Congress of Political Science will be held in Rome, Italy, in July 2027. Following an online meeting held on 15 February 2025, the IPSA Executive Committee officially selected Luiss Guido Carli as the host institution for this prestigious event. The Congress will be organized in collaboration with Luiss Guido Carli and the Società Italiana di Scienza Politica (SISP). The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) has already been formed with the involvement of leading Italian scholars.

WC2027 Program Co-Chairs

Vanessa Elias de Oliveira (Brazil) and Francesca Longo (Italy), both members of the IPSA Executive Committee, have been appointed by IPSA President Pablo Oñate to serve as Program Co-Chairs for the 2027 IPSA World Congress following the approval of their nomination by the Executive Committee members. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the new Program Co-Chairs.

Register by 20 March 2025 to enjoy the early-bird discount for the IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Seoul! Please note that fees will increase on 21 March. All participants, including session chairs, panel chairs, discussants and paper givers, must register to attend the Congress. All Congress participants must be 2025 individual IPSA members to register for the Congress.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR RESEARCH METHODS COURSES

Early-bird deadline: 8 May

 

Two short Research Methods Courses are offered in conjunction with the IPSA World Congress on 12 July 2025. Given by renowned international instructors, these in-person courses offer state-of-the-art information about recent advances in research methods across various fields. Advance registration is required as places are limited.

MIN HEE GO APPOINTED AS OMBUDSPERSONS FOR WC2025

 

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Francesca Longo and Min Hee Go as ombudspersons for the 2025 IPSA World Congress. The ombudspersons will be available prior to and during the World Congress to serve as confidential and impartial resources to address any concerns or issues related to the IPSA World Congress. Please take a few moments to read IPSA's Code of Conduct and Anti-Harassment Policy, which is available on the World Congress website. 

IPSA AWARDS DEADLINE APPROACHING

The deadline to submit your applications for IPSA Awards is fast approaching! IPSA will present several awards at the 2025 IPSA World Congress in Seoul and the submission deadline is 1 March 2025.

JOHN HIGLEY NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2025 MATTEI DOGAN FOUNDATION AWARD

The IPSA Committee on Organization, Procedures, and Awards (COPA) is proud to announce Professor John Higley as the recipient of the 2025 Prize of the Foundation Mattei Dogan. Prof. Higley will deliver a virtual award lecture titled The Democracy Ideal and Elites at the 2025 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Seoul on 16 July 2025.

IPSA AT THE 2025 ISA CONVENTION IN CHICAGO

 

IPSA will be present at the International Studies Association (ISA) 2025 Annual Convention in Chicago, USA. The 66th edition will be held from 2-5 March 2025 under the theme Reconnecting International Studies.

 

IPSA Past President Dianne Pinderhughes will chair the panel titled Issues of Democratic Participation: Elections and Governance Across World Geographic Regions on 3 March 2025 from 8:30 to 10:30 am. IPSA Past President Marianne Kneuer will also take part in the panel which brings together experts to examine electoral participation and outcomes across various world regions.

2025 IPSA-NUS SUMMER SCHOOL IN SINGAPORE

Early-bird deadline: 31 March 2025

The 14th Annual IPSA-NUS Summer School for Social Science Research Methods will be held at the National University of Singapore from 30 June to 11 July 2025. The majority of classes will be offered in person on the NUS campus, while some classes will be given virtually. Register early as class numbers are limited and courses fill up quickly. Early-bird registration for all courses officially closes on 31 March 2025, while normal registration for all courses closes on 31 May 2025.
