A LARGE NUMBER OF SUBMISSIONS RECEIVED
FROM LATIN AMERICA
 
We are excited to announce that we received over 5,200 papers and close to 600 panel proposals for the 2023 IPSA World Congress in Buenos Aires. Moreover, almost 2,000 paper proposals came from South America, representing the highest percentage of submissions from South America in recent history.
 
We would like to thank all those who submitted proposals as well as our session chairs who have begun the review process. The proposal notifications will be sent by email as of 22 March 2023.

EARLY BIRD REGISTRATION STARTS ON 8 MARCH
 
Early bird registration for the 2023 IPSA World Congress is available as of 8 March 2023.
 
All participants, including session chairs, panel chairs, discussants and paper givers, must register to attend the Congress. ALL Congress participants must be 2023 individual IPSA members to register for the World Congress. You can register online to become a member using your IPSA account.
 
IPSA AT THE 2023 ISA CONVENTION IN MONTREAL
 
IPSA will have a strong representation at the International Studies Association’s 2023 Annual Convention in Montreal, Canada. The event will be held on 15-18 March under the theme Real Struggles, High Stakes: Cooperation, Contention, and Creativity. IPSA President Dianne Pinderhughes, IPSA Past President Marianne Kneuer and IPSA Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski will be present at the ISA Convention.

Chaired by IPSA Past President Marianne Kneuer (TU Dresden), IPSA will present a panel on the theme Authoritarian Gravity Centers and Image Management: How Autocrats Use Soft Power on 16 March at 10:30 am.
 
IPSA Book Launch
 
IPSA and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation will host a book launch and reception on 15 March at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth Hotel to promote IPSA’s first Open Access book, Does the UN Model Still Work? Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism.

IPSA AWARDS DEADLINE APPROACHING

IPSA will present several awards at the 2023 IPSA World Congress of Political Science in Buenos Aires.
 
All applications for the following awards must be sent by 1 March 2023.
 
 
PH.D. WORKSHOP AT THE 2023 IPSA WORLD CONGRESS
Application Deadline: 24 February
 
The General Session (GS07) in Political Behavior invites Ph.D. students to present part of their thesis or a paper in a workshop format. The topic must be in the field of political behavior, broadly defined.
 
The workshop will take place on 18-19 July 2023, from 12:00 to 17:00 (local time). Each paper will be discussed for one hour. Ph.D. students will receive constructive feedback from a leading scholar in the field, and an in-depth audience discussion on their paper will follow.
 
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR THE
2023 IPSA-NUS SUMMER SCHOOL IN SINGAPORE 
Early Bird Deadline: 15 April 2023
 
The 12th Annual IPSA-NUS Summer School for Social Science Research Methods will be held at the National University of Singapore on 3-14 July 2023. The majority of classes will be offered in person on the NUS campus, while some classes will be offered virtually.
 
The Methods School offers basic to advanced courses in quantitative, qualitative, and formal methods. All courses focus on both the theory and practice of social science research. Participants receive excellent hands-on training in state-of-the-art methods and techniques from our highly experienced international faculty.
 
 
NIELS SPIERINGS NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF THE 2023 MEISEL-LAPONCE AWARD
 
The International Political Science Review (IPSR) editors are delighted to announce that Niels Spierings has been named the winner of the 2023 Meisel-Laponce Award for best article in IPSR for his article Democratic Disillusionment? Desire for Democracy after the Arab Uprisings.
 
The Meisel Laponce Award was established in honour of John Meisel and Jean Laponce, the first two editors of IPSR. It is sponsored by IPSA and SAGE Publications and is awarded at every IPSA World Congress.
 
 
28TH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF THE HUNGARIAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION
Submission Deadline: 19 March
 
The 28th Hungarian Political Science Association Annual Conference will be held on 25-26 May 2023 in Szeged, Hungary, under the theme of Politics and Political Science in the Shadow of War. The conference will contribute to a better understanding of the causes of the Russian-Ukraine war and its impact.
 
Organizers welcome panels and papers in English related to the two sections:
  • Responses of the EU and its Member States to the War and its Consequences;
  • Tendencies in Political Communication.
