NEW ISSUE OF IPSR PUBLISHED

The November 2023 edition of the International Political Science Review (Volume 44, Number 5) tackles the various challenges that contemporary democracies face. Topics range from political participation as well as peace and conflict to gender equality and populism. In the field of political participation, for example, O’Brien et al. examine the political participation of an important societal group, shareholders and investors, while another study explores the extensive body of literature on domestic democratic peace. Veri and Sass, for their part, examine how democracies constrain political violence. On the topic of gender equality, Jung investigates whether female leaders foster substantive political representation. Finally, Çarkoğlu and Elçi examine the intriguing connection between populist attitudes and democratic backsliding in the context of Turkey.
