THE CALL FOR PAPERS ENDS ON 18 JANUARY 2023
 
The call for papers for the 27th IPSA World Congress of Political Science, to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 15-19 July 2023, is open until 18 January 2023.
 
The Congress will feature a diverse program under the theme Politics in the Age of Transboundary Crises. Paper and panel proposals on any subject in political science are welcome.
 
Paper Submissions
 
More than 300 open panels are awaiting your paper abstracts. You can still submit Closed Panel proposals until 18 January 2023. Paper abstracts may be submitted to a session of interest or a specific open panel within that session. There are three types of sessions:
 
  • Research Committee sessions; 
  • General Sessions;
  • Local Organizing Committee sessions.
 
 
SEOUL TO HOST THE 2025 IPSA WORLD CONGRESS 
 
We are excited to announce that Seoul, South Korea, will host the 2025 IPSA World Congress of Political Science following a decision by the Executive Committee (EC) during meetings held in Istanbul in October 2022.
 
The Congress will be held at the Coex Convention & Exhibition Center in July 2025. As a scientific association with over 4,000 members worldwide, we are pleased to present the IPSA World Congress in Seoul for the second time since 1997.

THE ECPR-IPSA WORLD OF POLITICAL SCIENCE SURVEY
 
IPSA and the European Consortium for Political Research (ECPR) are seeking to develop a profile of the political science profession worldwide.
 
As part of this initiative, we are inviting our members to participate in the second World of Political Science (WPS) survey of the profession. We would like to learn more about your views and experience and would greatly appreciate it if you could complete the survey.
 
Deadline: 31 January 2023
 
 
IPSA’S FIRST OPEN ACCESS BOOK PUBLISHED
 
We are pleased to announce the publication of IPSA’s first Open Access book Does the UN Model Work? Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism.
 
Edited by Kim Fontaine-Skronski, IPSA Executive Director, Valériane Thool, Lecturer in International Law at University of Sherbrooke, and Norbert Eschborn, Director of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Canada, the book is composed of original articles from scholars and policy notes from practitioners based on the contributions to the Conference “The UN at 75: Challenges and Prospects for the Future of Multilateralism” organized by IPSA in 2020.
 
 
IPSA PRESENT AT THE 10TH CONGRESS OF THE MEXICAN POLITICAL SCIENCE ASSOCIATION
 
IPSA was present at the 10th International Congress of the Mexican Political Science Association held in Mérida, Mexico, on 22-25 November 2022.
 
IPSA President-Elect Pablo Oñate delivered a keynote speech on 23 November entitled Populism and Radical Populist Parties: Their Impact on Contemporary Democracies. Serving as commentators during the session were IPSA Executive Committee member, Prof. Azul Aguiar Aguilar, and Executive Secretary of the Mexican National Electoral Institute, Edmundo Jacobo Molina.
 
IPSA PRESIDENT DELIVERS A LECTURE ON THE FUTURE OF POLITICAL SCIENCE
 
IPSA President Dianne Pinderhughes was the guest speaker at the Polimpact - Social Relevance and Impact of Political Science Project’s online lecture series held on 21 November.
 
Prof. Pinderhughes delivered a lecture entitled Is There a Future for Political Science? Reflecting on How to Turn it Inside Out, Upside Down, and/or Maybe into an Exciting Field. Her focus was on the changes and transformations of the political science field in the past few decades.
 
 
IPSA AND IOHE FORMALIZE THEIR COOPERATION
 
We are happy to announce that the International Political Science Association (IPSA) and the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (OUI-IOHE) signed an agreement to enhance their academic cooperation. Both organizations are based in Montreal and this partnership falls in line with their active participation in Montreal International.
 
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) establishes a bilateral agreement between the two organizations, allowing them to further their existing collaboration on several fronts.
 
The bilateral agreement allows IPSA and OUI-IOHE to organize academic panels at each other’s main events in 2023 (the IPSA World Congress of Political Science and the Conference of the Americas on International Education - CAIE).
 
IPSA EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR MEETS INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS IN PARIS
 
Recently nominated on the Board of the Office franco-québécois pour la jeunesse (OFQJ), IPSA Executive Director Kim Fontaine-Skronski attended the Annual Meeting of the Joint Board (France and Québec) on 13-18 November 2022 in Paris. The OFQJ Board Meeting was presided by the newly-elected Québec Minister of International Relations and the Francophonie, Martine Biron, and France’s Minister of National Education, Youth and Sports, Pap Ndiaye.
 
While in Paris, Dr. Fontaine-Skronski took the opportunity to meet several international organizations and diplomatic missions.
