1. The Russian-Ukrainian conflict continues to draw international condemnation. Worldwide media coverage, and efforts to help the public understand the war, might be described as the first media world war. For instance, The Guardian has a special section, Russia’s war in Ukraine: Complete guide in maps, video and pictures, that features maps documenting the progress of military actions since the start of the conflict. Meanwhile, the New York Times website has a dedicated space for all comments and updates in real-time (Media Sources on the IPSAPortal).

2 . The Council on Foreign Relations, a think-tank founded in 1921 and the publisher of Foreign Affairs since 1922, has opened a monitoring and information space on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict to provide real-time background and event analysis. Special attention is paid to the diplomatic and cybersecurity dimensions, which are particularly germane to our understanding of the events and the potential outcomes (Special Collections on the IPSAPortal).

3. A poll conducted by YouGov and The Economist reveals that public opinion towards Ukraine and the ongoing conflict in the US and Europe is divided. On the whole, citizens of France, Great Britain and the United States show clear sympathy for Ukraine as opposed to Russia, while positions held by young people between the ages of 18 and 29 are less monolithic. This is especially true in the United States, where 40% of young Americans answer “not sure”, “neither” or “Russia” to the following question: Who do you sympathize with more? This value is also reflected in the hypothesis that Russians deliberately strike civilian targets, with only 45% of young Americans agreeing with the statement (Data Banks on the IPSAPortal).
