II Seminar: Social Times and the Contemporary World, "The Crisis, Phases and discontinuities"

University of Minho | Braga | Portugal

18th and 19th  November, 2013

The seminar addresses the concepts of time and temporality. Time and temporality are both structuring elements of human and social experience. Today, common sense and scientific analysis seem to converge claiming the increase of speed, multiplicity and simultaneity of time and temporalities. But what is the actual sense of temporal processes? What is really new in contemporary societies and their time schemes? How do institutions respond to temporal transformations? What does time and temporality have to offer to research in social sciences and humanities?

These are some of the issues that will be discussed during the seminar that brings together researchers interested in the debate about time, rhythm and social temporalities.

Proposals need to follow the given formatting and editing rules and can be submitted until 30th April 2013 to the address: tempossociais2013@gmail.com
