Announcement: Mathematical Tools for Social Scientists

Dear Social Scientists,
dear Colleagues,

We are happy to announce the GESIS workshop: “Mathematical Tools for Social Scientists: An Introduction with R”
given by Prof. Dr. Michael Greenacre, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona and Dr. Oleg Nenadic, University of Göttingen
September 14-18, 2015 in Cologne
The course is designed to foster knowledge about the mathematical roots of statistical procedures. Both lecturers are very experienced in empirical research and in teaching statistical data analysis techniques. You will learn about mathematical procedures without doing pencil work. It is highly recommended to take a course on ‘Mathematical Tools’ in order to arrive at a better understanding of the mechanics of procedures needed for many applications. Of course, a one week-workshop does not cover all and everything, but should give you much more than just basic ideas in this matter.
Michael Greenacre and Oleg Nenadic in their own style follow Martin Elff, who successfully taught his course on MathTools in recent years.
Please note: Martin Elff will continue to teach his course under the umbrella of the GESIS Summer School from 2016 onwards.
